14th International Conference Advanced Ceramics and Application

From 21 to 23 September 2026, the 14th International Conference Advanced Ceramics and Application (ACA XIV), organised by the Serbian Ceramic Society, was held in Belgrade. The conference was co-organised by the Institute of Technical Sciences of SASA, the Institute of General and Physical Chemistry, and the Institute of Chemistry, Technology and Metallurgy, with financial support from the Ministry of Science, Technological Development and Innovation of the Republic of Serbia.

The Advanced Ceramics and Application conference traditionally brings together more than one hundred participants from Serbia and abroad. This year’s conference gathered researchers from the United States, Spain, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Italy, Sweden, Norway, Croatia, Germany and England. The scientific programme comprised 17 plenary lectures, 23 invited lectures, 4 oral presentations and 48 poster presentations.

The conference was also attended by representatives of numerous Serbian research and higher education institutions, including the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts (SASA), the Institute of Technical Sciences of SASA, the Institute of Chemistry, Technology and Metallurgy, the Institute of General and Physical Chemistry, the Institute for Materials Testing of Serbia, the Institute for Technology of Nuclear and Other Mineral Raw Materials, the Vinča Institute of Nuclear Sciences, the Institute of Physics, the Faculty of Physical Chemistry, the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, the Innovation Center of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, the Faculty of Technology and Metallurgy, the Faculty of Agriculture, the Faculty of Electronic Engineering in Niš and the Faculty of Technical Sciences in Čačak.

Three exhibitions were organised as part of the conference: Connected Networks, an exhibition of digital art by Prof. Dr Vladimir Pavlović and Dr Darko Kosanović; Wild at Heart, by Lana Tikveša; and Condensation, by Dr Valentina Savić.

The conference dinner was held at the Zira Hotel restaurant. Participants also took part in a guided tour of Belgrade Fortress and Kalemegdan, including a visit to the underground chambers. This accompanying programme offered an opportunity to learn more about Belgrade’s cultural and historical heritage.

The conference was officially opened by Dr Nina Obradović, President of the Serbian Ceramic Society. The opening ceremony also featured a musical performance by Mariana Peleš and Nikola Stanojević, who performed O mio babbino caro by Giacomo Puccini, Waltz No. 2 by Dmitri Shostakovich and Hungarian Dance No. 5 by Johannes Brahms. On this occasion, Ivan Dimitrijević presented MC Labor, the silver sponsor of the conference.

The awards for the best oral presentations were presented to Nikola Živković (School of Dental Medicine, University of Belgrade) and Katarina Telebak (Innovation Center of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, University of Belgrade). The awards for the best poster presentations went to Ivana Barišić (University of Osijek, Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture Osijek, Croatia) and Jakub Leščinsky (Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice, Slovakia).

The awards included a certificate and free registration for the next ACA conference.
