Advanced Ceramics and Application XIII Conference

The Thirteenth International Conference Advanced Ceramics and Applications was held, organized by the Serbian Ceramic Society (SCS) and the Institute of Technical Sciences of SASA, with the support of the Ministry of Science, Technological Development and Innovation of the Republic of Serbia, was held from 8 to 10 September 2025. The organization of the conference also involved the Institute for Materials Testing (IMS), the Institute of General and Physical Chemistry, the Institute of Chemical Technology and Metallurgy (ICM), and the Institute for Technology of Nuclear and Other Mineral Raw Materials. The companies Analysis, Shanghai Chenhua Science Technology Corp. Ltd., the MOL Institute, and the Zira Hotel also supported this  event.

The conference was attended by representatives of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts, conference participants, guests, colleagues, and friends. This year, there were more than 100 participants from Serbia, Romania, the United Kingdom, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, China, Croatia, Germany, the USA, Spain, North Macedonia, Italy, and Slovenia. The program included 25 plenary lectures, 28 invited talks, four oral and 48 poster presentations within the following sections: Modeling and Simulation; Nano, Opto and Bio Ceramics; Ceramics and Sintering; Amorphous and Magnetic Ceramics, Cements and Concretes; Renewable Energy and Composites; Electrochemistry and Catalysis, as well as two poster sessions. The conference dinner was held at the Zira Hotel restaurant. The visit to the Nikola Tesla Museum impressed this year's guests.

The conference was opened by Dr. Nina Obradović, President of SCS. The participants were then greeted by Prof. Dr. Vladimir Pavlović, Vice President of SCS.

Prof. Dr. Vei Pan, Tsinhua University, Beijing, China, received the SCS honorary membership for his support and co-organization of the ACA13 conference.

Academician Slobodan Vukosavić, Secretary of the Department of Technical Sciences of SASA, delivered the first plenary lecture titled The impact of the availability of critical minerals on the feasibility of the energy transition.

Two awards were given for the best oral and poster presentations, including a diploma and gratis conference fee for the next ACA conference. Jelena Lazović, Max Planck Institute, Germany, and Gordana Stevanović, ICTM, received awards for the best oral presentations, while Miloš Vasić (IMS) and Danica Bajić, Military Technical Institute, received awards for the best posters.

An interesting exhibition titled Leaking Machine, prepared by Dr. Valentina Savić, attracted great attention from the participants.

A short music program (two violins) was performed by Mariana Peleš and Nikola Stanojević (Pirates of the Caribbean, Cinema Paradiso, Mo Li Hua (Jasmine Flower) – Chinese folk song, and Quizas, Quizas, Quizas).
