2007-2010 Junior Research Assistant

Working in the Institute of Technical Sciences of SASA since 2007.

Research areas

His early research interests included material science: inorganic nanostructured materials and the synthesis of nanocrystals for biomedical applications, as well as materials characterization (crystallographic, morphological and granulometric). He has recently taken an interest in the study of micro- and nanoplastic ingestion effects in animals and humans, by recreating microplastic pollutants found in environments. Computer science has been his long-standing interest, with special focus on data science, data engineering and machine learning algorithms, which he is trying to implement in his research.

Keywords: microplastic, nanoplastic, hydrothermal synthesis, nanocrystal synthesis, data engineering, machine learning

Professional development

  • 2012 - guest researcher at the Korean Institute of Science and Technology (KIST) in Seoul. South Korea
  • 2007 - postgraduate specialization course at the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology and at the Jožef Stefan institute in Ljubljana, Slovenia
