ITS SASA researcherss, Dr. Nebojša Labus, Dr. Aleksandar Mitrašinović and Dr. Darko Kosanović, visited the Institute of Materials Research of the Slovak Academy of Sciences to strengthen existing ties and plan future scientific collaboration between the two research institutions.

This visit is a logical continuation of successful cooperation. Dr. Nebojša Labus and Dr. Darko Kosanović have already jointly implemented two inter-academic projects with their Slovak colleagues during in 2021–2022 and 2022–2024.
During the visit, the Serbian researchers were welcomed by Dr. Juraj Szabó and Dr. František Kromka, who had previously worked with Dr. Labus as part of an inter-academic project. On the first day, the Slovak colleagues introduced the visitors to their laboratories and equipment, while the second day was dedicated to discussions on continuing cooperation and preparing new joint projects.

As part of these discussions, the researchers agreed to submit a bilateral project proposal for 2025, as well as to establish new forms of cooperation. Particular emphasis was placed on the potential for joint work on topics related to nanofibre research and the application of the electrospinning method, which provides a solid basis for future projects and knowledge exchange.
During their stay, the researchers from the Institute of Technical Sciences visited several laboratories, including:
- Laboratory for Spark Plasma Sintering
- Laboratory for Sintering and Heat Treatment
- Laboratory for Metal Machining
- Laboratory of Polymer Materials
- Laboratory of Powder and Compacted Sample Preparation
- Laboratory of Scanning Microscopy (STM and AFM)
- SEM/FIB Laboratory, and others.
The Institute is notably well-equipped with advanced scientific research instruments, including the Nanospider NS Lab 200 – used for producing nanofibres through electrospinning; the SPS model HP D10-SD – a system for spark plasma sintering; the SEM/FIB – a combined scanning electron microscope and focused ion beam system for high-resolution analysis and processing at the micro- and nanoscale; and the Philips PANalytical XRD – an X-ray diffraction instrument for investigating the crystal structure of materials. This state-of-the-art equipment provides a solid foundation for advancing scientific collaboration between Serbia and Slovakia.
During the visit to Košice, new contacts were also established with Slovak colleagues, including Dr Viktor Puchý, with whom there had already been collaboration within a 2021–2022 project, and Prof. Ján Dusza, Director of the Research Centre for Advanced Materials and Technologies – PROMATECH. These meetings helped expand the professional network and opened up new possibilities for future institutional cooperation.
