The Seventh International Conference on Mechanochemistry and Mechanical Alloying (INCOME 2011) was held between August 31 and September 3, 2011. The conference took place in Herceg Novi, one of the most beautiful towns in Montenegro, at the Hunguest Sun Resort Hotel. It was attended by more than one hundred scientists from all over the world (Serbia, Russia, Spain, Ukraine, Japan, etc.). The INCOME 2011 Conference was organized by the Materials Research Society of Serbia under the auspices of the International Mechanochemistry Organization, whereas its host was the famous Japanese scientist Mamoru Senna.

At the opening ceremony, conference participants were welcomed by Prof. Mamoru Senna and Prof Dragan Uskoković, who also made a brief overview of the conference programme and the history of the INCOME conferences. INCOME 2011 included more than 20 oral and about 80 poster presentations.

The Institute of Technical Sciences of SASA was represented by three presentations within the poster session: Influence of Mechanochemical Activation on Sintering of Cordierite Ceramics with the Presence of Bi2O3 as a Functional Additive (authored by: N. Obradović, N. Đorđević, S. Filipović, N. Nikolić, D. Kosanović, M. Mitrić, S. Marković, V. Pavlović, and presented by Dr. Nina Obradović), Mechanochemically-Assisted Synthesis And Characterization of Zr-Doped Hydroxyapatite Nanopowders (authored by M. J. Lukić, A. Stanković, Lj. Veselinović, S.D. Škapin, S. Marković, D. Uskoković) and The Morphology, Structure and Luminescent Properties of Gd2o3:Eu Synthesized by Aerosol Route and High Energy Ball Milling (authored by M.E. Rabanal, I. Barroso, L.S. Gómez, O. Milošević).

INCOME 2011 was dedicated to the presentation and summing up of recent results and new trends in mechanical activation. All of the conference participants have made a significant contribution to the development of this field of research and the organizers did not fail to meet high quality standards. The next INCOME conference will be organized in Krakow, Poland, in 2013.
